Eskimo Joe: Rebranding an Australian classic for a new stage.

Brand identity, custom typeface and art direction.
2024

To coincide with the release of their first single in 4 years (The First Time), and their upcoming national tour, Eskimo Joe needed a refreshed identity. We developed a new wordmark, custom typeface, visual language and a series of tour images to promote the tour and relaunch the iconic live act for their next era.

Eskimo Joe’s new custom wordmark borrows from the band’s past to take them into the future — inspired by the wide uppercase forms of Microgramma and Eurostile, and bold presence of Futura, found in early iterations of their brand.

Working with photographer Duncan Wright, we created a series of images that played with light and shadow, depth of field, refraction and unusual silhouettes. They present a warmth, a feeling of nostalgia and intimacy – a more mature interpretation of early press shots of the band.
