Kav Temperley — Australian songwriter, vocalist and bassist of Eskimo Joe — released his second solo album in October 2022, titled ‘Machines of Love and Grace’. It explores our relationship with technology, isolation, love and human connection. The release of the LP was accompanied by a collection of NFTs: a series of unique recordings in seven different keys.

A custom typeface was designed for use across the artwork, packaging and promotional materials, sitting in balance with the warmth and vulnerability of the photography. Its pixellated letterforms contrast their serif construction, mirroring the tension in the music and creating a transitional, digital, disconnected feeling. Inspired by the proportions of Times New Roman, the pixels show us something deeply familiar in a new light — the cold, glowing light of a screen.
